Cape Town is situated on a peninsula and is surrounded on three sides by the sea, beaches and rocky outcrops. During the winter we have many storms blown in by the strong north-westerly wind. We can actually see the heavy cloud-bank approaching over the sea. A ship was recently blown onto the beach near where I live, luckily all the crew survived and I think they have managed to drain off all the fuel to prevent an oil spill.

I really get the sense of the quite before a storm, yet the ominous bank of clouds. How interesting you can watch it approach like that. The sea is both beautiful and wild and wooly for sure.
Hi Dianne:
Love the colors. I can really feel the storm approaching. That is what I love about your paintings. I can actually feel them. I do envy you that wonderful gift and ability to communicate via paint.
It must be so inspiring to be able to see the ocean. We have Nor'easters here but I'm not sure that I would want to see one approaching. :)
Absolutely inspiring, Dianne! Good news about the shipwreck, too!
Stunning painting. So uplifting. Wonderful composition.
goosebumps
your work is so emotive........
Dear Suki, glad you enjoyed this.
Dear Kathy, I think I just paint and somehow I read feelings into the paint on reflection of the painting. I had no idea what this was going to be until the image said to me, "I am a beach with rocks, sea and clouds"!
Dear Suzanne, the NW wind blows the boats off their anchors on to the beach. There must be all sorts of treasures buried in the sand.
Dear Carolann, thanks for your comments. I have been reading up on composition and design to help me with my abstracted images.
Dear Louise, thanks!
Knowing exactly what you're talking about, this painting says it all! Absolutely incredible Di - when are you giving classes again?
Dear Liz, thanks for the positive comments. I have written an email to you about my workshops. Will be posting something next week about my workshop last Saturday.
That must be fascinating, to watch the storm approach, I can see it here, the heavy clouds mixed with lighter clouds, something dark coming over...
Beautiful Dianne!!!!!
